SACRAMENTO — Following a local tragedy that galvanized a rural community, bipartisan efforts to overhaul how California reviews rural highway safety are gaining momentum in the State Capitol.
Assemblymen Jeff Gonzalez (R-Indio) and Greg Wallis (R-Bermuda Dunes) announced amendments Monday to Assembly Bill 1145. The legislation aims to strip away administrative silence and force state transportation officials to be more transparent with rural and mountain communities demanding infrastructure upgrades.
