Assemblymember Greg Wallis Welcomes New State Funding to Address Homelessness in Assembly District 47

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Greg Wallis announced that over $34 million from a $131 million state funding pool will be allocated to clear homeless encampments in Assembly District 47. This funding aims to address the urgent homelessness crisis in Palm Springs, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, and the City of Redlands.

The grants include $5.1 million for Palm Springs, $5.3 million for the City of Redlands, $12.6 million for Riverside County and $11 million for San Bernardino County. These funds will be used to allow city and county leaders to connect individuals experiencing homelessness with shelter, care, and critical services while restoring public spaces for the community.

“This funding is vital for our communities,” said Assemblymember Greg Wallis. “I’ve been fighting for support like this in Sacramento with help from our cities and counties because where we’re from, we believe in helping our most vulnerable neighbors. We’re making real progress in getting people off the streets and into stable housing.”

Wallis emphasized that along with this funding, there are stronger accountability measures in place to ensure local governments effectively use these resources and comply with state housing laws.

“We now have stronger accountability measures to ensure all local governments across California use these resources effectively,” Wallis added. “Together, we can restore public safety and dignity for our vulnerable neighbors. I’m committed to advocating for our community every step of the way.”
