Assemblymembers Greg Wallis and Eduardo Garcia Welcome American Idol Winner Abi Carter to Sacramento Capitol

Sacramento, CA – August 6, 2024 – Yesterday, Assemblymember Greg Wallis and Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia welcomed the newly crowned winner of Season 22 of American Idol, Abi Carter, to the California State Assembly. Abi, a talented singer-songwriter from the Coachella Valley, won over the hearts of millions with her powerful performances, including a soulful rendition of Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” and a stunning version of “Somewhere” from West Side Story.

Abi Carter, a proud graduate of Palm Desert High School and a 2023 summa cum laude graduate in psychology from CSU San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus, has quickly risen to fame. Just last weekend, she headlined her first arena concert at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, playing to a packed house.

Assemblymember Greg Wallis expressed his excitement, saying, “We are so proud of Abi. She’s a shining star who has brought so much pride to our community. I might just take a little credit for launching her career—she put on an amazing show at one of my district events, and the rest is history!”

Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia added, “Abi is a true hometown hero. Her journey from performing locally to winning American Idol is inspiring, and it’s an honor to celebrate her success here at the Capitol. She’s made all of us in the Coachella Valley incredibly proud.”
